Mileage reimbursement is an optional expense that families will choose to pay you, at their discretion.
The IRS determines on a yearly basis the mileage reimbursement rate.
Please see the mileage rate for 2022. This rate covers the cost of gasoline and wear and tear on the car driven while “on the job.”
The mileage reimbursement is not considered taxable compensation, so the employer and employee are not required to pay taxes on this compensation.
Mileage reimbursement commuting to and from a job is not considered “on the job” and is taxable compensation per IRS regulations.
